A Calgary couple is $15 million richer after their Lotto Max ticket matched all seven numbers in a recent draw, landing them one of the year's largest Canadian lottery wins.

Kathleen Polyak discovered the winning ticket while in the bath after her partner Stuart Rudolph flagged a possible match from a news article. "I checked them and immediately asked him to meet me in the living room to check again with me. I thought I was mistaken!" she said.

Rudolph said the couple has barely slept since confirming the win. "It's been a rollercoaster," Polyak added. The pair purchased their winning ticket using a Free Play they had won on a previous Lotto Max draw.

They've outlined their spending plans: paying off their mortgage, handling bills, home upgrades, and travel. Polyak is particularly excited about attending her goddaughter's wedding overseas in France. Rudolph said, "It'll be such a relief to pay the mortgage and the bills completely and then look forward to our first holiday in a long time."

Polyak and Rudolph purchased their winning ticket from Save-On Foods at 420 Na'a Plaza SW in Calgary. The couple acknowledged the need to be practical with the windfall despite the initial excitement about what became possible.
