Mercedes-Benz is recalling 36,862 cars and SUVs across Canada manufactured between 2019 and 2026 because a corroded door lock microswitch can cause parked vehicles to roll away.

Moisture entering the driver-side door lock causes the microswitch to corrode and may fail to engage the parking brake automatically or the auto park feature when the door is opened. The result: a vehicle could roll away, leading to a crash or injuries. The defect may also cause the radio or interior lights to remain on after exiting the vehicle.

Affected models include the A Class, C Class, CLA Class, CLE Class, GLA Class, GLB Class, and GLC Class across all model years 2019–2026. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail if their vehicle is affected and will advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-side door lock. Until the replacement is completed, the company advises drivers to always use the parking brake when parking to reduce safety risks.
