Teva recalls Novo-Gesic acetaminophen tablets over phenolic resin contamination

Teva Canada Limited has recalled one lot of Novo-Gesic Forte 500 mg acetaminophen tablets due to potential contamination with phenolic resin or epoxy, which may cause injury to the digestive system if ingested.
The affected lot is #100083040 with an expiry date of January 31, 2029. The product was supplied to pharmacies in 1,000-count bottles and then dispensed to patients in smaller quantities. It was sold in pharmacies across Canada.
Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the affected product and return it to the pharmacy where it was purchased for a replacement and proper disposal. As of the recall announcement, no reports have been received of anyone being negatively affected by the product. Health Canada advises anyone who has used the affected product and has concerns about their health to consult their healthcare practitioner.
The contamination was identified during routine quality testing.
