Painkiller recalled across Canada over contamination risk
Teva Canada is recalling one lot of Novo-Gesic Forte 500 mg acetaminophen due to potential presence of phenolic resin or epoxy that could injure the digestive system.

Health Canada issued a recall Thursday for one lot of the non-prescription painkiller Novo-Gesic Forte 500 mg over contamination concerns.
Teva Canada Limited recalled lot 100083040 due to the potential presence of phenolic resin or epoxy. If ingested, these materials may cause injury to the digestive system.
The affected product has a Drug Identification Number of 00482323 and an expiration date of Jan. 31, 2029. Pharmacies received the recalled drug in 1,000-count bottles and dispensed it to patients in smaller quantities.
Patients who have the recalled product should stop using it immediately and return it to their local pharmacy for disposal and replacement.
Canadians who believe they have experienced side effects or have complaints related to the product are urged to report them to Health Canada.
In a statement, Health Canada said it is monitoring the recall and the company's preventative and corrective actions. "If additional safety concerns arise, Health Canada will take appropriate action and inform Canadians as needed," the agency said.
