The Okanagan Indian Band has issued a do-not-consume water advisory for two community water systems on its land following contamination from the Bradley Creek wildfire.
The advisory affects the Six Mile/Bradley Creek/Irish Creek/Head of the Lake Community Water System (DWS #429) and the 59 Antoine Road Community Water System (DWS #2391). Residents in these areas must use bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking, food washing and preparation, pet water, making coffee or other beverages, and infant formula.
Tap water remains safe for hand washing, laundry, bathing (except for infants and toddlers), washing dishes, and flushing toilets. Anyone who consumes tap water and becomes ill is advised to seek immediate medical attention.
