Two dead after single-engine plane crashes in Kananaskis Country near Mount McDougall

Two people are dead after a single-engine Cirrus SR22 crashed Saturday in Kananaskis Country near Mount McDougall in southern Alberta, about 55 kilometres west-southwest of Springbank airport.
The aircraft departed Springbank just after 8:50 a.m. Saturday on an instrument flight plan bound for Campbell River, British Columbia. The crash occurred roughly 25 minutes after takeoff. The two deceased were the only occupants of the aircraft.
As of Sunday morning, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the bodies had not been recovered. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said weather and the remote location are inhibiting the ability to reach the crash site. The TSB investigation was ongoing as of Sunday.
Names and formal identification of the two deceased have not been released. The TSB has not yet published an investigation file number or a timeline for the completion of its report.
