A supercell tornado swept through the east-central Alberta hamlet of Tulliby Lake on Saturday evening, damaging several structures, oil sites, and local vegetation, county officials said.

The County of Vermilion River confirmed no injuries had been reported as of early Sunday. An Alberta Emergency Alert was issued around 5:30 p.m. Saturday for Dewberry, Tulliby Lake, Onion Lake, and the Makaoo (Part) 120 First Nation, warning of a "very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation." The alert was cancelled around 6 p.m.

Energy operator ATCO reported power outages affecting residents in the region. As of 10 a.m. Sunday, no outstanding outages were shown on ATCO's online power outage map.

The Northern Tornadoes Project, based at Western University in London, Ontario, confirmed the tornado in a social media post, stating the confirmation was based on multiple photos and videos, including imagery from a drone as well as radar data. Tulliby Lake is approximately 60 kilometres northwest of Lloydminster. The Alberta Emergency Management Agency and the Northern Tornadoes Project are investigating the event.
