United Way BC's 2026 Period Promise campaign has exceeded its provincial collection goal, delivering 570,150 menstrual products to communities across British Columbia and helping address period poverty for thousands.

The campaign surpassed its target of 525,000 products thanks to support from donors, workplaces, unions, businesses, volunteers, and community partners. A major contribution came from Always and Tampax, which donated 373,632 products valued at more than $330,000. Pacific Blue Cross matched cash donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000.

"We're incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this year's campaign," said Lori Mayhew, Senior Director at United Way BC. "Together, we've helped ensure more people can access the menstrual products they need to attend school, go to work and participate fully in their communities."

The campaign's success reflects strong community support, but demand far outpaces supply. United Way BC's 2026 Period Promise Needs Assessment identified more than 120 organizations requesting menstrual products to support an estimated 162,758 people. Collectively, those organizations reported a need for nearly seven million menstrual products, highlighting the ongoing impact of period poverty across B.C.

"At the same time, our needs assessment makes it clear that significant gaps remain," Mayhew said.
