Gebang Sikdang, a Seoul institution synonymous with raw marinated crab for more than three decades, is opening its first Canadian location in Toronto this July 18, at Katsuya's Gerrard East location.
The restaurant boasts a Bib Gourmand distinction on Seoul's Michelin Guide for nearly a decade. Michelin describes it as a spot that "caters to a trend-conscious crowd with its polished interior and its wide selection of raw crab dishes."
This collaboration marks the second time the two restaurants have joined forces after a massively popular pop-up at Katsuya's North York location earlier this spring. The signature dish is gejang—whole crabs marinated in various soy or chili-based sauces. Spicy, sweet, and tangy, the experience is often compared to the seafood version of a particularly saucy chicken wing. Beyond whole marinated crabs, expect crab roe bibimbap and banchan (Korean side dishes) to round out the meal.
Katsuya and Gebang Sikdang are located at 66 Gerrard St. E.
