The Bentway is bringing back its iconic figure-eight skate trail under the Gardiner for another season, opening August 7 and running through September 27, 2026.
The 200-metre skating trail will be open Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 8 p.m. at 250 Fort York Boulevard. Skating is free, with skate rentals starting at $18 plus tax.
All the skating fun begins on August 7 with what organizers call "The Bentway's legendary Roller Skate Party" co-hosted by BEATS + SKATES and The Melanin Skate Crew. This free community celebration will feature DJs, live painting, skate performances, vendors and more. During the event, a limited two-for-one roller skate rental promotion will be available while supplies last.
Weekly Roller Skate Lessons will be held every Friday night through September at two sessions: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. or 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Lessons cost $15 (equipment rentals not included) and registration is required.
Other programming includes Art Socials in partnership with Noble Space running Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through August 25 at The Bentway Studio (55 Fort York Boulevard). Those cost $15 plus fees and require registration.
According to the director of programming at The Bentway, the season celebrates movement, creativity and exploration in public space.
