JerkFest Toronto is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an official city proclamation and a major summer festival lineup.

Mayor Olivia Chow and festival organizers marked the milestone Tuesday evening with a special ceremony at City Hall. The proclamation recognizes the impact Caribbean culture has had on Toronto's social and cultural fabric.

"Reaching 25 years is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the support of our community, sponsors, volunteers, artists and festival patrons who have been part of this journey," said Anthony Plummer, executive director of Caribbean Promotions Arts & Culture Inc., producers of JerkFest Toronto.

The festival returns to Centennial Park in Etobicoke from August 8 to 10, bringing a weekend packed with Caribbean food, music, and culture. Organizers have announced a lineup featuring dancehall queen Spice, soca superstar Patrice Roberts, dancehall breakout star 450, and reggae favourite Mr. Lexx. One additional headlining performer is still expected to be announced.

Festivalgoers can look forward to appearances from popular culinary personalities Chef Leon Rowe of Heaven's Kitchen and Chef Nicole King of Ms. King's Kitchen, plus the food, music, and community events that have made JerkFest a beloved Toronto institution for two and a half decades.
