Kensington Market's Pedestrian Sunday is officially returning in 2026 after a year-long absence. The iconic summer tradition will transform the neighborhood into a car-free hotspot on the last Sunday of each month, running from June through October.

The festival takes place from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., with an extended pedestrian-friendly road closure on Augusta Avenue between College Street and Oxford Street lasting until 10 p.m., allowing the atmosphere to carry into the evening as a de facto block party.

This year's confirmed dates are June 28, July 26, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, and Oct. 25. A special soccer-themed celebration will take place in the June edition to commemorate Toronto as a host city for the FIFA World Cup.

After organizers halted Pedestrian Sunday in 2025, citing feedback from locals and a funding shortfall, they reimagined the festival to be more "community-rooted." They found that outside businesses had diluted the event's authenticity to the neighborhood. The return brings back the monthly ritual that celebrates Kensington's cultural diversity, with independent shops, global cuisine, street performers, and residents coming together to transform the streets into a shared public space.
