A 27-year-old Brampton woman is facing nearly 40 charges in connection with a series of rental fraud incidents spanning seven months.
Peel police say Savreet Kaur allegedly advertised homes, including basement apartments, on various social media platforms between May 2025 and February 2026. Victims signed rental agreements and sent deposits for first and last month's rent. When they arrived with their belongings—many having already moved out of previous residences—they discovered the properties were not available.
Investigators identified 17 incidents with combined financial losses exceeding $60,000. None of the victims received the promised accommodations or had their money returned. Kaur was arrested on July 13 and is being held in custody. She faces 38 counts of fraud over $5,000 and one count of obstruct police.
