Gordon Ramsay surprises young soccer players in Brampton

Brampton Soccer Centre became a TV set in early June when MasterChef U.S. filmed a FIFA-themed episode at the complex, bringing star chef Gordon Ramsay and Argentine football manager Mauricio Pochettino to the city.

The episode, titled "World Cup Cookoff," featured contestants preparing elevated game-day meals—burgers, chicken, fries—for local young soccer players. Before the competition, Ramsay took to the field as goalkeeper while kids attempted to score on him, with Pochettino cheering from the sidelines. FIFA mascots also made appearances to promote the 2026 World Cup.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown praised the production for showcasing the city's youth talent on an international platform and highlighting both Ramsay and Pochettino's involvement. Social media users celebrated seeing Brampton featured on a major TV show, though some viewers noted the episode used U.S. Soccer branding despite being filmed in Canada and didn't mention Canada's role as co-host.

The filming underscores how FIFA preparations are drawing major productions to the Greater Toronto Area beyond the tournament venues themselves.
