Canada's first Toys "R" Us location, which opened in Brampton in 1984, is closing for good on July 12 after a 42-year run serving generations of customers with toys, baby products and children's clothing.

The closure comes amid a turbulent period for the brand. The company entered creditor protection earlier this year and has since been shrinking its store footprint across Canada. A handful of Toys "R" Us locations have closed in recent months, with former storefronts already being replaced.

The Brampton location, which has been winding down operations and reducing staff over the past year, has now put up closing signage. Customers have until 5 p.m. on the store's final day to shop the remaining discounted products. The store is located at 150 West Drive in Brampton.
