Police search for missing 74-year-old Markham man considered vulnerable
Wieslaw has been missing more than 24 hours after last seen on McCowan Road in Scarborough Tuesday afternoon, heading north on foot.

York Regional Police are searching for a 74-year-old Markham man considered vulnerable who has been missing for more than 24 hours.
Wieslaw, who also responds to the name Wujek, was last seen in the area of McCowan Road and Nugget Avenue in Scarborough on Tuesday at 2 p.m., on foot and heading north on McCowan Road. Earlier that morning, he was seen leaving his home on foot in Markham in the area of Brimley Road and Denison Street.
"His family and police are concerned for his well-being, he is a vulnerable person and has been missing for over 24 hours," Const. Caroline de Kloet, spokesperson for York Regional Police, said Wednesday in an email.
Wieslaw speaks broken English and Polish and is known to frequent coffee shops and sit on benches outside. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 163 pounds, has brown eyes and short grey hair. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, black and grey windbreaker jacket and light khaki-coloured pants.
Police have set up a command post at 75 Amarillo Ave. in Markham as they continue their search. Anyone with information is urged to call York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541.
