Search and rescue officers looking for missing 28-year-old Markham woman

Search and rescue officers are combing through high-rises and green spaces in Markham after a 28-year-old woman went missing early Friday morning.
York police describe the missing person as vulnerable and say she was last seen between 2 and 4 a.m. in the area of Highway 7 East and Birchmount Avenue. She's described as five foot eight inches with shoulder-length black hair and a red complexion. She may be wearing a hijab and carrying a black bag.
A command post has been established at the location where she was last seen, and residents should expect a heavy police presence in the area. Police say her disappearance is out of character and they're deploying multiple resources including search and rescue personnel.
"As this is so out of character and due to the level of concern from her family, we are utilizing as many resources as appropriate," York police said.
