Peel Regional Police arrested a woman on suspicion of impaired driving after her vehicle struck a fully marked police cruiser during a traffic stop in Mississauga late Tuesday night.

The collision occurred around 11:09 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Dixie Road just north of Dundas Street East. Officers had pulled over another vehicle when a northbound driver struck the cruiser from behind.

Initial reports indicated the driver was transported to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries. Police later confirmed that no injuries were reported, including to the officers involved.

The female driver was taken into custody at the scene and will be charged with impaired driving. Two northbound lanes of Dixie Road were closed during the investigation, causing minor delays. All lanes have since reopened and traffic is moving normally through the area.
