Toronto police believe the same suspect is responsible for two separate gold chain snatchings in Scarborough within 24 hours in late May.
The first incident occurred Friday, May 29, around 4:28 p.m. near Middlefield Road and McNicoll Avenue. A female was walking toward a bus stop when someone tugged at her gold necklace from behind. She ran but the suspect chased her down, pulled the chain off, and fled in a grey pickup truck.
The next day at 4:20 p.m., in the Alton Towers Circle and McCowan Road area, a female and her friend were walking home from a nearby park when a male forcefully ripped a gold chain off the victim's neck. He fled in a dark-coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee. The victim sustained minor injuries.
In both incidents, the suspect had hidden from the victims before robbing them. Investigators describe him as around 30 years old with a light to fair complexion and medium build. He was last seen wearing a face covering and an orange and green high-visibility construction vest.
Police say both vehicles were pictured in their release and the suspect was the lone occupant in each vehicle.
