Vehicle strikes 16-year-old pedestrian in Scarborough; cause under investigation

A vehicle struck a 16-year-old male pedestrian near Lawrence Avenue East and Victoria Park Avenue in Scarborough around 12:09 p.m. on Monday, September 28.
The teen sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. The vehicle also struck two parked cars. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries; all parties remained at the scene.
Toronto Police Service is investigating. The vehicle appeared to lose control, though the cause remains unknown at this time. No charges have been laid.
One secondary account reported that one of the injured was transported to a trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries — a discrepancy between sources on the severity of at least one person's injuries.
This marks the third pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Toronto in recent months. As HOC reported in September, a teen was charged after a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on Bathurst near Lonsmount.
