AFC Toronto clinches NSL playoff berth with 3-0 victory over Ottawa Rapid

AFC Toronto secured a playoff berth Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC at York Lions Stadium, joining Montreal Roses in the post-season of the Northern Super League.

Lena Silano scored in the 44th and 49th minutes. The Californian stripped Ottawa goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson of the ball for her first goal, then delivered a low bouncer to the right corner for her second — her first career NSL goals. Sarah Stratigakis, coming off the bench, scored Toronto's third goal in the 82nd minute.

Sabrina D'Angelo, a two-time Olympian who has played for Canada for a decade, recorded a clean sheet in goal for Toronto. Toronto dominated on-target shots 8-4 and delivered 14 crosses to Ottawa's nine.

"I feel like as a team we've been working really hard," Silano told the source. "Press is something that's our strength, so really happy that we were able to get a goal off that and just give us some good momentum going into the second half, and then getting another goal."

Toronto now stands at 10-5-7, in second place two points behind Montreal. Ottawa fell to 11-8-3, one point behind Toronto. Delaney Pridham, the NSL's 2025 player of the year and Ottawa's leading scorer with five goals, returned to the Rapid's lineup after missing five games with an injury.
