A man suffered life-threatening injuries on Highway 401 near Renforth Drive on Sunday after being struck by one of two vehicles racing at high speed on the westbound express lanes.

Ontario Provincial Police say the man had gotten out of his pickup truck—parked on the shoulder with a trailer—to inspect his load when he was hit. The striking vehicle stopped, but a second BMW fled the scene.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt appealed for the fleeing driver to come forward and asked for dashcam footage from anyone who witnessed the two BMWs driving aggressively and racing. The westbound express lanes were closed from Highway 427, with no access from Eglinton Avenue, for the investigation.
