Fatal Scarborough Crash Kills One, Impaired Driving Suspected

Emergency crews rushed to Sheppard Avenue East at Vandorf Street just before 10:30 p.m. to find a passenger pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants—a man in his 40s and a 35-year-old woman—were taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Toronto police arrested a 49-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of impaired driving. He remains in custody as investigators work to piece together what happened in those moments before impact. Sheppard Avenue East remained closed at Vandorf Street overnight as police continued their investigation.
