Toronto police are investigating a shooting they describe as "targeted" after a man in his 20s was injured Sunday afternoon near Fort York.
Officers were called to Queens Wharf Road and Fort York Boulevard at approximately 2:30 p.m. for reports of gunshots. They found the victim and transported him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives say evidence suggests the shooting was a targeted incident, though the investigation is still in early stages. The suspect fled the area in a red-coloured SUV. Police remained on scene Sunday evening gathering information about what led to the shooting.
The Fort York area, home to the historic garrison and increasingly popular with residents and tourists, has seen sporadic street violence in recent years.
