Poland's Iga Swiatek secured a quarterfinal berth at the National Bank Open in Toronto on Saturday with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk in the Round of 16.

Swiatek, the No. 7 seed, converted her sixth match point to close out her 10th-seeded opponent. She will next face 15th-seeded Diana Shnaider of Russia, who upset third-seeded American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-3 in Saturday's other Round of 16 match.

In the evening session Saturday, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus was set to meet 16th-seeded Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova. Eighth-seeded American Amanda Anisimova faced ninth-seeded Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the late match.

Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Quebec, remains the lone Canadian left in the field at the WTA 1000 event. The Canadian was scheduled to play Japan's Naomi Osaka in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

In doubles play, the fifth-seeded team of Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko defeated Norway's Ulrikke Eikeri and American Quinn Gleason 6-4, 7-1. The seventh-seeded duo of Australia's Ellen Perez and Netherlands' Demi Schuurs posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over American Asia Muhammad and Hungary's Fanny Stollar.
