Louis Foster earns pole position for inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham

Louis Foster secured pole position for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham on August 16, with Christian Lundgaard joining him at the front of the grid for Sunday's race. Scott McLaughlin qualified third.

Organizers had cancelled Friday's track sessions after the race course was not completed and had not undergone safety inspections. As a result, both practice and qualifying were compressed into a single day on Saturday. Drivers had to qualify against the setting sun, creating challenging conditions for the afternoon session.

Foster posted the fastest practice lap in the day's second session with a time of one minute 14.1793 seconds. Alex Palou had set the morning's fastest practice pace at 1:14.9915 but damaged his car during qualifying after bumping a wall in Turn 10 and missed the final 12, ending a streak of top-10 finishes in every IndyCar qualifying session since 2025.

The move to Markham marks a significant shift for the historic race, which ran at Toronto's Exhibition Place since its 1986 inaugural running. Palou leads the driver standings by 110 points over Kyle Kirkwood as he approaches his fifth IndyCar title.
