Peel Public Health is investigating a measles exposure tied to a confirmed case on June 13.

Passengers on flights ET552 from Addis Ababa to Toronto and Air Canada AC410 from Toronto to Montreal may have been exposed. Anyone in Terminal 1 of Pearson International Airport between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day could have also been exposed.

Measles spreads easily to those who aren't immunized or haven't had it before. Peel Public Health is urging travellers to check their immunization records and ensure they have two doses of measles vaccinations (MMR or MMRV). Anyone born prior to 1970 is considered protected against measles.

Symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, sensitivity to light, or a rash lasting four to seven days. Symptoms typically appear seven to 21 days after infection. If you're experiencing these signs, stay home and contact a doctor.

Peel Public Health directly contacts those who could have been exposed. The risk of getting measles in the region is low.
