Peel Public Health issued a measles exposure alert Friday for Toronto Pearson Airport and two flights on July 7 related to a confirmed measles case.

The exposure occurred on Flight BG305 from Bangladesh to Toronto via Rome, Flight AC1986 from Toronto to Moncton, and at Pearson's Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 between 1:11 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on July 7.

Anyone who may have been exposed should check their immunization records. Those at higher risk—including people with weakened immune systems, pregnant people, or parents of infants under one year old—should contact their local public health unit about preventative treatment options.

Measles is highly contagious and spreads easily to unvaccinated people or those who haven't had the disease. Symptoms appear seven to 21 days after infection and include high fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes, light sensitivity, and a red rash that starts on the face and spreads down the body. Anyone experiencing symptoms should contact their healthcare provider or public health immediately.
