Toronto and Peel police are searching the Humber River for a 78-year-old man missing since September 10, when he entered the water in an inflatable kayak near South Kingsway and The Queensway.
David, who lives alone, was last seen at 10 a.m. that morning. Police were not alerted to his disappearance until September 15, after officers attended his address following a report of a smell of fire. His vehicle was found abandoned near the spot where he entered the river. The kayak has not been recovered.
Toronto Police Marine Unit and Peel Police Marine Unit are conducting the search, with drones deployed to the area. Police have not disclosed David's kayaking experience. Investigators are concerned for his safety.
David is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall with black and grey hair and a thin chinstrap beard. He was last wearing a red shirt, black and red vest, black pants, and black shoes.
