Any of the top three candidates in Mississauga's mayoral race could win Monday's election, according to recent polling, which shows support almost evenly split. Incumbent Carolyn Parrish, city councillor Alvin Tedjo and former mayor Bonnie Crombie are the leading contenders.

Crombie vacated the mayor's chair in 2024 to run for the Ontario Liberal leadership, then resigned as Ontario Liberal leader in January 2026 and entered the Mississauga race in July. She has been out at every GO Train, mosque and church, she said, and said she is "quietly confident." Parrish said she has more than 2,500 lawn signs on properties, and called that a sign of support.

Transit is the top priority for residents CityNews spoke with, and property taxes are a hot topic. Crombie has promised a subway for Mississauga and said she will ask the premier for funding. Tedjo's plan is five new rapid transit bus lines along Derry, Dundas, Dixie, Lakeshore and Erin Mills. Parrish's platform includes no major transit promises. Neither the cost of the subway nor of the bus lines was stated.

Voting begins at 9 a.m. Monday. Early voting set a record, with 57 per cent more votes cast than in 2022.
