Olivia Chow sighting at Dufferin Mall Walmart goes viral the night before Toronto's mayoral vote

The Walmart is in west Toronto, near Dufferin Grove Park and St. Mary Catholic Secondary School. The photo shows Chow in a blue jacket speaking with someone outside the store entrance. One Reddit commenter wrote that the poster said Chow was "saying hi to everybody." Other comments cited sightings at Dufferin station, Kennedy station and the Maple Leaf Gardens Loblaws.

A photo of Mayor Olivia Chow greeting people outside the Walmart at Dufferin Mall on Saturday night went viral on Reddit, where the original poster wrote that "Toronto needs a mayor who will hang out at Dufferin Mall Walmart." The post drew thousands of upvotes by Sunday and comments from Torontonians sharing their own recent sightings of Chow around the city.

One commenter argued that retail stops, transit stations and neighbourhood visits are standard get-out-the-vote campaigning in the final days of an election. Another wrote, "You've gotta respect a mayor who is willing to do last minute campaigning at regular places where regular people go to."

Toronto's municipal election is Monday, Oct. 26, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Recent polls conflict on the mayoral race, with some showing Chow narrowly ahead of Brad Bradford and others showing the two neck-and-neck. HighOnCity reported on Oct. 8 that the Toronto police union had endorsed Chow over Bradford.
