Patrick Dempsey surprised a group of University of Toronto physical therapy students when he appeared outside the school's rehab building near the corner of Elm and Edward Streets after filming wrapped.
Students exiting class found themselves face-to-face with the actor best known for playing Dr. Derek Shepherd ("McDreamy") on Grey's Anatomy. "You never know who you'll run into at PT school," the UofT PT school posted to Instagram, describing the encounter. "Our physio students got an unexpected celebrity encounter when Patrick Dempsey was filming outside the rehab building! After filming wrapped, the group introduced themselves as physio students—and he jumped through the barrier to take some photos."
Dempsey posed for photos with scores of excited students and chatted with them during the unplanned appearance. The actor is in Toronto filming the second season of his FOX procedural Memory of a Killer, with production scheduled to wrap in December, suggesting more potential sightings before the crew departs.
