Police Search for Man in Scarborough Mall Assault
Toronto Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl at Woodside Square mall on May 12. The suspect remains at large.
Toronto Police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl at Woodside Square shopping centre in Scarborough on May 12.
According to investigators, the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. inside a store at the mall located at Finch Avenue East and McCowan Road. Police allege the man approached the girl, sexually assaulted her, and then followed her around the store before grabbing her. The child alerted family members, who confronted the man as he attempted to leave — he fled the scene before police arrived.
The suspect is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old wearing eyeglasses and a green Nike baseball cap at the time of the incident. Police have released details in hopes that members of the public may recognize him or have information about his identity.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Toronto Police Service or Crime Stoppers anonymously. Detectives continue to investigate and are appealing to the community for assistance in locating the suspect.
