Toronto will gather Sunday morning to add 14 firefighters to the city's Memorial Honour Roll, honouring officers who died in the line of duty across recent years.
The ceremony begins at 10:50 a.m. at Toronto Fire and Marine Station 334, 339 Queens Quay West. Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop will lead remarks, joined by family members of the fallen, the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters' Association, and representatives from affiliated fire service organizations. Wreath-laying ceremonies will follow.
The 14 being added — including Captain Philip S. J. Ball (died April 2023), Firefighter Joseph P. Bonanno (died June 2025), District Chief Alan E. Fletcher (died January 2025), and others — bring the total Memorial Honour Roll to 350 names. Since 1848, 367 Toronto firefighters have lost their lives in service.
The ceremony is open to media for photos and video. There is no on-site parking available. This annual observance reflects the city's commitment to remembering the service and sacrifice of its firefighters.
