Toronto Public Health issued a drug alert Friday after reports of an increased number of overdoses in the downtown area.

The alert warned that "a clear substance, like glass, may be circulating." Health officials did not provide additional details on the specific drugs tied to the overdose cases.

Public Health urged people using substances to avoid using alone, keep a naloxone kit nearby, and use one of the city's remaining supervised consumption sites when possible. Anyone using drugs should arrange for someone to check in with them in person or by phone.
