Toronto police intercepted two unauthorized drones Friday near Toronto Stadium during the FIFA World Cup match between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing the week's total to four illegal flights over restricted airspace.
One drone was intercepted near Lake Shore Boulevard and Strachan Avenue just after 1 p.m., and another was intercepted near Lake Shore Boulevard and Bathurst Street about an hour later. Two people were charged under Canadian Aviation Regulations.
Earlier in the week, police charged two other individuals for operating unauthorized drones around the stadium. Authorities are reminding the public that drones are prohibited in restricted airspace around stadiums, team sites, the FIFA Fan Festival, and other secured areas during the tournament.
