The City of Toronto has temporarily suspended ferry service to Wards Island on Thursday due to a large tree trunk obstructing the dock area.
All trips to the island have been cancelled until the debris can be safely removed, according to a service alert posted on the city's ferry schedule page.
The obstruction forced the Island Cafe, which reopened last year after a devastating 2024 fire, to close at 3 p.m. The cafe had planned to broadcast the Canada vs. Qatar FIFA match at 6 p.m., but cancelled as access to the island became limited without ferry service.
The city has not yet provided an estimated timeline for service resumption.
