A check welfare call on October 23, 2026, led York Regional Police to a home near Jeremy Drive and Fred Varley Drive, where officers found a clandestine drug lab and seized drugs worth about $640,000, according to a force release issued Friday. Three Markham residents now face drug charges: Joseph Li, 41, Yuan Li, 39, and Michelle Li, 39. Police have not released the specific charges, and the allegations have not been tested in court.
Police said the drugs were allegedly produced at the site and sold online under the company name "Buddha Boys." Officers seized 12,962 cannabis edibles packages, 26 kilograms of loose edibles, 8 kilograms of dried cannabis, 18 kilograms of psilocybin powder and 209 grams of THC vaping cartridges. They also seized ammunition, a conducted energy weapon and about $100,000 in cash.
The lab was safely dismantled with help from the Office of the Fire Marshal, Markham Fire and Emergency Services and York Region Paramedic Services.
York Regional Police have not said how long the lab operated or how large the online sales were.
