Quebec recorded its first confirmed tornado of 2026 in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, according to the Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University. The EF0 tornado struck near Saint-Thomas-Didyme at approximately 6:13 p.m. on May 25.

Researchers estimate the twister produced winds of up to 100 km/h and travelled approximately 750 metres. Minor damage was reported, including torn roof shingles, a broken tree, and an overturned trailer. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The tornado is the first officially documented in Quebec this year, marking the start of what could be an active severe weather season as spring transitions into summer.
