Sunny Saturday — World Cup night and the city's wide open.

Morning, it's properly warm out there — 14°C and sunny, the best we've had in a minute. UV's running high at 7, so if you're heading outside early, you'll want sunscreen. You've got 16 hours of daylight today and sunset's at 9:19 PM, so there's plenty of room to move.

Getting around: Highway 1 eastbound and westbound both have a vehicle incident backed up between Kensington Ave and Gaglardi Way in Burnaby — HOV and left lanes are blocked. If you're heading out that way this morning, give it time or find another route. Nothing's hitting the city proper transit-wise right now, but if you're down in Slurrey heading to the transit centre next week, the 502 and 503 have nightly detours starting next Saturday through the 28th due to construction.

Worth knowing: Metro Vancouver's heading into a strike come Monday, so today's one of the last easy days if you're planning to move around the region. And if you've been watching condo prices, the word is they're expected to slide further as the year goes on.

Food-wise, grab brunch or an early lunch somewhere outside — Waves Coffee's been dropping prices despite everything else going up, if that's your move. If you want to stay local and try something new, there's summer patios worth checking out, and if you're feeling adventurous, there's a local craft tequila brand that just launched ready-to-drink stuff. Nothing fancy required — just good food, good sun.

Tonight's the real draw: Australia vs Türkiye in the World Cup at BC Place, 9 PM kickoff. If you're into it, the city's going to be buzzing. Grab your seat early. If live music is more your speed, The Cat Empire's at the Commodore at 7, or Tiger Really's doing an album release at The Fox at 7:30. Naomi Watanabe's doing a show at the Vogue at 7 as well. There's also International Football House screening matches at Good Co. on Granville at noon if you want to get ahead of the evening energy.

It's a day to be outside — blue sky, no rain, proper warmth. Make it count.
