Sunny Sunday—catch a show, hit the beach, watch the soccer.

Fourteen degrees and mainly sunny all day. Some transit reshuffles around a special event, but nothing that'll wreck your plans.

Sunny Sunday—catch a show, hit the beach, watch the soccer.

Morning's looking solid. Fourteen degrees, mainly sunny, UV at 5 so you'll want sunscreen if you're out for the long haul. Sunset's at 9:22 tonight, so you've got sixteen-plus hours of daylight to work with—perfect for stretching the day out.

The transit note: if you're heading out to Kits or catching the 9, 14, or 99 B-Line today, there's a special event running detours until 1 AM. The buses are looping around via Alma and W 4 Ave instead of their regular routes. It'll add a few minutes, but nothing dramatic. Worth knowing if you're timing a trip.

Worth a read: all Metro Vancouver ocean beaches are open for swimming right now. Water's going to feel cold, but the sun's out and the visibility should be good. Also the new Aquabus ferry—the biggest in the company's 41-year history—just launched. If you haven't caught it yet, it's a legit thing to see. And if you've been paying attention to the Canucks, the new GM Ryan Johnson had a solid draft weekend; seven players picked on day two.

For eating, Sumu just opened with yakitori, hot pot, and handcrafted drinks if you're looking for something a bit different. And if you're in the mood for winery escapes, there's a piece on two B.C. stays worth building a trip around if you've got the weekend free.

Tonight's loaded. Vancouver FC takes on AFC Toronto at Swangard at 2 PM—solid local soccer if you want an afternoon out. For the evening, live music is everywhere: Cherry Pick's got an EP release at The Pearl at 7 with Hillsboro, Tiger Really, and Scarlet Fever; and if you're more of a reggae-and-alt-rock person, Heavenly, The Umbrellas, and Swansea Sound are at the Hollywood at 7:30. Come From Away is also running a matinee at 2 PM if theatre's your thing.

Weather's going to hold all day. Sunny, not cold, plenty of light. Good day to be outside or to catch something indoors without feeling like you're missing the weather. Either way, you're sorted.
