World Cup takes over tonight—plan your commute now.

It's 13°C and mostly cloudy this morning—light layers are your friend, and you've got a solid 16 hours of daylight to work with before sunset at 9:21 PM. UV's at 3, so nothing dramatic on the sun front. The weather's not going to stop you getting around, but transit will be.

If you're heading downtown or catching the World Cup at BC Place tonight, sort your commute now. The 23 and 50 are both rerouted because of the FIFA Round of 32 match kicking off at 8 PM. The 23's redirected near Station St and National Ave at its eastern end, and the 50's running on Pender between Cambie and Columbia instead of Keefer Place. Plan a few extra minutes if you usually take either line.

Politically, things are heating up ahead of October's election—COPE just picked Stephanie Allen as their mayoral candidate, so that race is going to get interesting. On a sadder note, the coroner's inquest into Tatyanna Harrison's death is underway this week. Worth paying attention to.

On the lighter side, the Morra brothers have swapped pizza peels for pasta and opened a new osteria in Yaletown if you're looking for something different for dinner. There's also some solid cocktail energy happening at Botanist Bar—Toronto's top cocktail bars are in town for Sips Across Canada, so if you're into that scene, it's worth a stop.

Tonight's all about the World Cup. BC Place is the epicenter—the FIFA Round of 32 match is at 8 PM, and there's a free viewing party at The Pearl starting at noon if you want to get in early. If you're not feeling football, Come From Away is on at Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage at 7:30, Lee Harris is at Bell Performing Arts Centre at 7, and there's live music scattered around town if you want to skip the match entirely.

The city's buzzing with tournament energy, so expect the downtown core to be packed once the sun starts dropping. If you're heading out for the match, grab dinner early or hit somewhere quieter—the usual spots are going to be rammed.

Cheers, and enjoy the night.
