Friday sun, World Cup fever, and the weekend's already calling.

It's Friday and the sun's actually showing up—15°C, mostly cloudy, but you're getting a full 16 hours of daylight, so milk it. UV's sitting at 6 (high), so if you're outside all day, you'll want sunscreen even when the clouds roll through. Sunset's at 9:21 PM, which means the evening's yours to stretch.

A few transit detours to keep in your back pocket: the 351 out to South Surrey Park and Ride is taking a detour starting at 5:30 AM this morning due to a road block—they're routing you through King George and Ladner Trunk instead. If you're heading through Lougheed Town Centre, the east side elevator from the bus loop to the Expo/M-Line platform is down temporarily, so plan an extra minute. And if you're catching the R1 or 503 late tonight (9 PM to 1 AM), both routes are detoured around King George for a special event—same routing through Whalley and Fraser.

On the local radar: West Broadway's down to two lanes from Birch to Granville for summer construction, so avoid that stretch if you can. Meanwhile, Granville Street's staying car-free all the way through Labour Day—the good car-free vibes are sticking around.

For lunch or dinner, there's some solid food moving right now. 54-40 just dropped their Ocean Pearl West Coast Lager at Delta breweries if you're looking to grab one before the game. And if you're craving Thai, Zab Bite on Fraser Street is the spot—they've been getting some attention lately.

Here's the main event: there's a FREE FIFA World Cup viewing party at The Pearl starting at 11:00 AM, so if you want to catch the match with a crowd, that's your morning sorted. If live music is more your speed, Summer Walker and Odeal are at Rogers Arena tonight at 7:30 PM, or there's Kail Lowry at the Vogue Theatre at 7:00 PM. Come From Away's also playing the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage at 7:30 if theatre's your thing. And if you're into festival energy, FVDED in the Park is running at Holland Park today.

Weather-wise, you're good to be outside all day—bring a light layer just in case, but nothing's stopping you from getting out there. By tonight it'll still be mild, so whatever you're doing—whether it's cheering on a World Cup team or dancing—you're set.

Have a good one.
