Saturday's got live music, late sun, and a few transit hiccups.

Clear skies, long daylight, and plenty to do — just watch for some bus detours on the North Shore.

Saturday's got live music, late sun, and a few transit hiccups.

Morning. It's 16 and mostly clear, which is a gift in July. UV's running high at 7, so if you're heading out before sunset (9:16 PM tonight), throw sunscreen on and you're golden. You've got nearly 16 hours of daylight to play with — lean into it.

Couple of transit things to know if you're heading North Shore way: the 236 from Lonsdale Quay's in detour mode through Friday the 17th, so reroute through MacKay and 17th, then back via Marine, Lloyd, and Churchill before you rejoin the regular route. If you're catching the westbound on University at Western Parkway, that stop's closed same window — construction work. Not a massive disruption, but good to know before you head out.

If you were planning to catch the new #1 Downtown South Circulator or the beefed-up 23 service, heads up — both were part of the FIFA World Cup push and wrap up today. Normal service resumes Monday.

On the news side, there's a major apartment fire crews are still battling in New Westminster with Fourth Avenue closed, so steer clear of that area. A few collision incidents around Richmond and Port Moody yesterday have left some people seriously hurt — just keep your head on a swivel out there.

For eating, you've got some solid new spots. Entrecôte just opened in Gastown if you're craving premium steak frites and a secret sauce situation — dead simple, one-dish focus. Moon's a new cocktail bar and restaurant that just landed in the old Dugout space, also Gastown side. If Peruvian's your thing, SUYO's running a limited Peru Independence tasting menu through July. And if you need coffee this morning, Pallet just opened in Olympic Village with specialty roasts and a heated patio if the clouds roll in.

Tonight's got live music humming across the city. Have A Nice Life with Bosse-de-Nage and Rhododendron are at The Pearl at 7, moondoggy's at the Fox Cabaret at 7:30, and if you want to go later, Aaron Hibell's at the Commodore at 9 (19+). Dancing's on tap too — Pursuit of Happiness at Celebrities if you're still standing.

If you'd rather be outside, the Canadians are home at Scotiabank Field at 5:05 against Everett. Long evening, clear skies — ballpark weather.

Cheers, and get out there.
