Sunny Wednesday with a heads-up on transit and Broadway.

14°C and mainly sunny — perfect day to move around, but watch for escalator gaps and a major road closure coming Monday.

Sunny Wednesday with a heads-up on transit and Broadway.

Morning. It's a clean one out there: 14°C, mainly sunny, UV index at 7 (that's high, so if you're out long, sunscreen's doing work). You've got 15 hours and 50 minutes of daylight to work with, sunset at 9:13 PM — plenty of time to do something after work if you're feeling it.

Couple things on the transit front. Escalators are down at Joyce-Collingwood (east side entrance from platform), Rupert Station (up to the VCC-Clark platform), Renfrew (up to Lafarge Lake-Douglas side), and Commercial-Broadway (down from the Expo platforms). Nothing that'll wreck your morning, but if you're tight on time and mobility's an issue, good to know.

Bigger thing: Broadway at Cambie is closing full-bore for six months starting Monday, July 20. That's a serious closure, so if that's part of your routine commute, map a new one now before Monday rolls around. Give yourself time to test it.

On the local pulse: a Vancouver man's under a Canada-wide arrest warrant tied to the Panama Papers — that story's been running nationally. There's also word on a major port expansion at Roberts Bank, with TerraMarine picked as the construction partner. And a sobering one worth noting: a woman died after an e-scooter crash near Commercial and Venables back on July 3. Worth thinking about if you're riding around.

Food-wise, Mandhras Cafe just opened on West Broadway near City Hall — South Indian coffee and dosa if that's your lane. Earnest Ice Cream's opening a fifth spot on Granville Island this fall, and French Creek Pub's bringing their thing downtown at the Burrard Hotel this summer.

Tonight's got options. The Pearl's hosting an England House watch party for the semifinal at noon, and then shifts into live music later — The Longest Johns with Seán Dagher at 8 and 9 PM if you want to catch a folk gig. Come From Away is also playing the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage at 1 PM and 7 PM if theatre's calling.

It's a solid day. Get out, catch some sun, and watch those escalators. Cheers.
