Friday's got theatre, late-night eats, and a UV kick—plan around it.

Mostly cloudy, 14°C, sunset at 9:11 PM. A couple transit hiccups in Surrey and at the Expo Line, but the evening's wide open.

Friday's got theatre, late-night eats, and a UV kick—plan around it.

It's Friday—that threshold where the week exhales and the weekend waits. Temperature's mild but don't lean on it; 14 degrees means a layer you can ditch once you're moving. UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're outside for any stretch, sunscreen actually matters today, not just a nice idea. You've got 15 hours and 46 minutes of daylight, so sunset's not until 9:11 PM—plenty of room to move your evening around.

If you're heading out East Van way, the 326 and 325 are both running detours starting at 6:05 AM due to a motor vehicle accident around Surrey Central. You'll loop via 92 Ave and King George before getting back on track. Nothing that derails the day, but leave a few minutes extra if you're catching transit that early. And if you're using the Expo Line—Gateway Station's up escalator from 108th to the mezzanine is down for now, as is the one at Stadium-Chinatown from the ticket level to Beatty. Stairs work, just a heads-up.

On the broader radar: North Van council just greenlit 81 new affordable rentals in Maplewood (6-1 vote), which is solid news for the neighbourhood. Also worth knowing—Mihaela Ududec, a missing woman from North Vancouver, has the RCMP asking for public help. If you've got information, they're listening.

For eating: Gringo's back in its original Gastown spot at Blood Alley after being closed for months, so if you've been missing it, tonight's a good night to revisit. Over on the Drive, La Tana just launched Volpe di Notte—a late-night summer happy hour that's worth scoping out. And if you're planning something more intentional, Les Faux Bourgeois reopened recently with new ownership and direction; the place is worth checking out to see what it's become.

This evening, you've got options stacked. Come From Away's running at Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage at 7:30 if you want theatre that lands warm. Orpheum's doing Star Wars—The Return of the Jedi in Concert at the same time if you're in an epic mood. Rick Bronson's has Chris Estrada doing stand-up at 7:30, and if you want to dance it out, margø's What A Waste Tour hits The Fox Cabaret at 8:00. Pick your vibe—Friday's built for it.

It's a good day to be out. Make it count.
