Tuesday's clear and warm—watch the UV, plan your evening.

Morning's looking good: 18 degrees, partly cloudy, and the sun's with you until just after 9 PM—that's 15 and a half hours of daylight to work with. Fair warning though: UV's sitting at 9, which is high, so if you're spending the day outside, sunscreen's not optional. This is the kind of weather that makes you want to stay out, but it'll feel like July, so plan accordingly.

On transit, a few elevators and escalators are in the shop. The Expo Line's got some temporary outages: the escalator at Gateway Station (108 Ave side) is out until 3 PM today, and the same goes for the escalator at Main Street–Science World. If you're heading through Commercial-Broadway, the elevator from the E 10th entrance won't be running from late last night. Nothing showstopping, but worth knowing. Also, if you catch the 395 King George bus, expect a detour starting at 6 PM tonight through tomorrow morning—it's sidestepping construction via 203 St and 66 Ave.

Worth your attention: VanOpen's back in West Van with 21 tennis players from 11 countries—serious talent rolling into town. Over in Richmond, council voted to extend Aster Place, the supportive housing complex, for another three years. And Granville Street's pedestrian zone is sticking around through Labour Day after the World Cup crowds proved people actually want to walk the street.

If you're thinking food, there's some good moves. East Van's Nero Tondo is worth a visit if you like hyperlocal B.C. ingredients in a tight, 18-seat space. Downtown, Bloom Bakery & Café just opened with a floral-inspired vibe and plans for 24-hour service eventually. If you're in the mood for something with history, Michael Bublé apparently co-signed Ryan Reynolds' love for Minerva's in Kerrisdale—good enough for both of them, good enough reason to go.

This evening's got options. Come From Away is playing at Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage at 7 PM if you want Broadway. Live rock's happening too—Chance Peña at the Commodore at the same time. If you're in a quieter mood, there's Hedwig and the Angry Inch (film version) at The Rio at 7:30 PM.

Sunset's at 9:07, so if you're catching anything outdoors or heading to the seawall, you've got time. Make the most of the daylight.
