Wednesday's Mostly Cloudy—Layers Game Strong, Evening's Yours

Heads up on the commute: the Expo Line elevator at 22nd Street Station (main entrance to the Waterfront-bound platform) is down starting at 5:45 am, so plan around that if you're headed that way. The 180 Lougheed from Moody Centre has two trips cancelled this morning—7:00 and 8:20 am out of Bay 6—due to an operational issue. Both are worth knowing if that's your line.

Weather's sitting at 15°C and mostly cloudy, which means you want layers but you're not dealing with rain. UV's running high at 7.0, so if you're outside for any real stretch, sunscreen's your move. You've got a solid 15 hours and 17 minutes of daylight, with sunset coming at 8:57 pm—plenty of evening left if you head out after work.

A couple of local stories worth the read this morning: Google's Green Light program is helping Van optimize traffic signals to move things along more smoothly, and over East Van, about 400 Downtown Eastside tenants are facing risk as SROs get tangled up in sales and foreclosure trouble. Worth paying attention to.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, JJ Bean just opened on Fir and Broadway if you want coffee and pastry. For something more substantial, Maria Celeste just landed on Fraser Street bringing Portugal's tascas tradition—casual, convivial spots—to the neighbourhood. Over on the North Shore, Kozak Ukrainian Restaurant is doing handmade pierogies and shashlyk if you're after that kind of warm food.

Tonight's got options. Vancouver FC is home at Swangard Stadium at 7:00 pm taking on Roses de Montreal if you want to catch some football. There's also tennis running at the Odlum Brown VanOpen up at Hollyburn Country Club (day passes available if you want to drop in), and if theatre's your move, *Clue—A New Comedy* is on at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 7:30 pm. With mostly cloudy skies and daylight stretching past 8:00 pm, it's a good night to be out—indoors or out depending on what calls you.

Get out and make it count.
