BC Day is yours—grab the sunshine while it lasts.

It's a stat holiday, which means the city exhales. You've got 15 hours of daylight to play with—sunset's at 8:49 PM, so there's time to do something good and still catch an evening out.

Weather-wise, it's cool but clear. Thirteen degrees doesn't sound like much, but the sun's strong today (UV's at 6, which is high), so if you're heading to the beach or the seawall or just walking it off in a park, you'll want sunscreen and maybe a layer you can shed. It's that August sweet spot—no rain in sight.

Transit's clean today. If you're heading out of the city proper tomorrow (Tuesday), the 106 has a detour around New Westminster and Edmonds stations from 7 AM to 4 PM due to construction, so plan a few extra minutes. Same heads-up for anyone catching the 191 or 187 from Coquitlam side—they're running night detours weekdays through the end of September, 8 PM to 5 AM.

Worth knowing: there was a 5.5-magnitude earthquake off the west coast of the Island last week. Nothing major locally, but it's the second moderate one in seven days, so the ground's been a little restless. Nothing to lose sleep over, but worth being aware if you felt anything.

If food's on your mind, Main Street's got something special happening tonight—Johnny Spero, a DC chef, is doing a one-night collaboration at Burdock & Co. If that's sold out, the conversation around Van's restaurant scene right now is all about chef collaborations, so there's probably something interesting opening somewhere near you this week. Also worth noting: Nicole Gomes, who won Top Chef and grew up in Richmond, just opened Lucky Lily Asian Brasserie at the airport. And if you're thinking summer sipping, there's a solid list of white wines doing the rounds locally to carry you through August.

For tonight, live music is on. Faouzia's at the Hollywood Theatre at 7 PM if you want something accessible, and Fortune Sound Club's got Taylah Elaine at 10 if you're heading late. Both are solid ways to use that long daylight and turn it into an evening.

Get out there. The weather's cooperating.
