Wednesday's mild, high UV — grab sunscreen and live music tonight
17°C, mostly cloudy, and the sun's packing a punch. Broadway's still under construction. Three solid shows to pick from after dark.
Morning's looking soft — 17 degrees, mostly cloudy, but that UV's sitting at 6, which is high. You're going to want sunscreen even if the sky doesn't feel bright. We've got a solid 14 and a half hours of daylight to work with, so sunset's not till 8:34 PM if you're planning an evening walk or patio time.
If you're heading west on Broadway, keep your patience with you — another wave of transit construction's hitting the corridor today. It's the Canada Line-Millennium Line interchange taking shape down at Broadway-City Hall Station, so the disruptions are for something real, but yeah, budget extra time if you're crossing the Broadway spine.
Worth knowing: there's been a bat bite on a West Vancouver trail that's triggered a rabies alert, so if you're heading into the backcountry up there or anywhere else, watch yourself around wildlife. Nothing paranoid — just aware. On a lighter note, North Delta students just raised over fifty grand for ALS at a community walk over at Hawthorne Park, which is genuinely solid.
If you're thinking lunch, Hen just soft-opened on West Broadway this week — they're doing Thai chicken rice, which is a lane worth exploring if you're over that way. For dinner, there's some real range happening: Navvy House reopened on West Van's waterfront in the historic Navvy Jack House if you want waterfront views and a bit of history. Downtown, Cantina Social Club is bringing Mexico City nightlife into Pinche Taco Shop if you're after that vibe. And if you want to go deep, Sula's running a seven-course regional Indian tasting menu at $48 — that's the kind of meal you sit down for and let happen.
Tonight's got legs. If you're into live music, you've got options: indie folk's on at Freedom Mobile Arch with CAAMP starting at 7 PM, and the same band's also at the PNE Amphitheatre at 7 PM (yeah, double-booking — pick your room size). Faisal Kapadia's at the Hollywood Theatre at 7 too if you want something different. Or if baseball's your thing, the Canadians are home at Scotiabank Field at 7:05 against Tri-City — that's a solid weeknight option if the weather holds.
There's also an AC/DC PWR/UP Pop Up at the Commodore starting at noon if you want to check that out before your day really kicks off.
Cheers, and stay in the shade when you can.
